I finally installed a bimini I found at the yard last year, but only now got around to install it
I had new zippers in, ( $30.00 was the total cost, for 5 zippers) and I put it up this morning
I suppose the back straps go on to the stern nrailin ( top or bottom section?)
But where do the front straps go?
This is a H33 (1982)
On the toe rail?
Or do I install something?
At the moment, the front bow almost touches the boom
Any help, with a picture if you have one
Thanks for helping!

Going sailing tomorrow, hoping to get some info on where to tie the straps.
Otherwise the bimini will be flapping in the wind, and surely no one wants to see that, right?
Kidding of course! I will find some place, but there must be a certain procedure here...

Jorge, on my 30 the straps (white) extend from the bow through slots in the canvas and clip to the stern pulpit on the top railing with eyes attached to the top of the rail. The forward straps clip to the toe rail, both with SS strap clips. I think the pic shows the approach angle forward (but not the actual attachment).

I saw this too late to help you with sailing today, but my 30 has little eyes for the strap attachments fore and aft of the main pivot/hold down. No reason why you couldn't use the toe-rail though if you have a slotted one like my 30.

Ggrizzard,
Thank you: that is all I needed
Tom,
No you are not too late: it is 7.40 and I will go sailing around 1
Thanks for the trouble, I will show off my ( not new) bimini
Great picture of your cockpit!!!

On my 33 the back of the bimini is attached to the stern top rail and the front is attached to two small "u" brackets screwed into the cockpit seat backs near the front of the cockpit. Don't put them to close to the front as you need room to step out of the cockpit onto the deck from the side. I will take a few pictures when I am next at the boat and also show how the safety lines are attached low to make boarding easier.

I too use the straps because I like to fold mine against the backstay. Mine go to the toerails(all Cherubinis have slotted toerails I think). But I have rings permanently attached to the toerail for the strap snaps. The snaps are hard to get onto those thick rails.

Here is a picture of my brand new bimini. The front straps clip onto the toerail and the aft straps hook to the stern railing. Ed H

I am very interetsed in your set-up, since you have the same boat
I await for the photos, thank you all
I still went sailing anyway
I would have used my belt if need be...
Also looking forward to see how your safety lines are, for boarding easier...

Here is a picture of the small "u" bracket that is used to attach the bimini strap. Also two of where the life lines are attached lower in the stern for easier boarding and docking of the boat.

I am not sure why the picture is so small. You can see a larger version at my photo album on this site. Ed H

Ours is strapless, stronger, stiffer, better support for the connector piece and side curtains and no straps to get in the way. This is a very easy DIY project and can be done on just about any boat. You can often do it with "scraps" of SS tubing from your local canvas shop. They often have no use for those "short" pieces and will give them to you or sell them quite inexpensively..

Maine Sail,
Great pictures: so you mean I could construct a support fitted vertically like yours, and then a horizontal piece at the top like in the picture?
Any chance of more pictures so I can see how you did on all 4 corners?
I can get lots of stainless steel tubing for free, and can also get the connections
Someone wrote on this link" maybe I can go strapless," I thought he was kidding, but I really like it!

I was able to go into your album and drool over your pictures.
Please tell me: where do you get those tube like white covers for your shrouds?

There you go Jorge! Use tubing to make a solid frame. Then you don't need to make a cover. Doesn't work for me because I sail with the cockpit open as much as possible. Rather use SPF80 and a hat then canvas.

Thank you Ed
That is the way to go! But tell me: the vertical SS tubing: the part at the bottom swivels ever so slightly, correct? And at the top, same thing, isn't it?
I have lots of those fittings, top and bottom, where the tube connects into.
And what does SBF80 mean?

Ah!!!
Got it!
So does the tube swivel at the top and bottom?
Maybe Maine Sail will read this and clarify for me
But I really do like the idea, and this is something I can do!
