Bilge Water

I own a Javelin of about 1977 vintage. I leave the boat docked at a lake about 100 miles from home and only get to the boat a couple times a month. The boat is not covered. Recently I went out to sail after a couple weeks of rain and found the cockpit swamped. Had no problem pumping the cockpit out. Then I took off and the boat handled heavy. I realized then that water must have come up over the hole for the front hatch and went into the hull. So, I pulled the boat out of the water and pulled the little drain plug in the lower stern and lots of water came out of there. I then opened a large round port in the floor of the cockpit and found more water there and pumped it out. I am now wondering if there is any other places that may still contain water in the hull. So, here is my question for anyone who can help. How can I be sure I got all the water out of the bilge of my Javelin? Thank You, Mark

day sailer with similar issue

I assume that the rear drain drains the whole inner hull as it does on mine. I have put a camera down the inspection port and taken pictures to determine the inner hull structure and at least in the daysailer II, it is all one void. The Javelin is a smaller model made by the same company as the DS II, so I base my assumption on that. I understand that your issue stems from rainwater coming in and down into the bilge. I have lake water coming up into the bilge, about 7 gallons in four hours. (About an ounce a minute), essentially a small leak. I would be interested in hearing if you have similar problems as I'm stymied as to a fix. I plugged the centerboard uphaul inter hull gap, ensured that the hull/deck joint was well sealed, and tightened and siliconed the nuts on the centerboard pivot bolt. I can't think of any other place the water would be coming in. If you have a dry inner hull, (except for rainwater)I would be interested in having you discribe how the cb is set up. Comparing cb mechanisms and your findings of the inner hull presence of water (or not) may be helpful in leading me to a solution on my DSII. I would appreciate anyone else's input if they have had similar issues with their DS II.
