Bilge Drains

I have a 1992 H28 and noticed a little water coming out of a 2 inch drain hole in an enclosed bilge compartment just below the compression post. This is at the front end of the forward bilge compartment (not where the bilge pump is located). I poked my finger into the hole and discovered two things. 1) the water was disgusting -- my finger came out coated in a smelly black slime, and 2) the compartment went down several inches below the hole. My question is: has anyone drilled a second hole below the big one so more of the water can get out? Are there other areas in the H28 that need holes drilled to let water drain properly? Thanks for any advice.

Siphoned mine out

I noticed the same thing and used a length of clear poly hose to siphon out as much of the water as I could. It sure was nasty and moldy and I have done it several times over the years. Wonder where this water came from? Certainly doesn't seem like a good design.

Weep Holes

Periodically clean your weep holes so water will flow to the lowest point-the bilge.

Yeap, there are more!

This is one of the problems with this boat! Check the voids in your keel for water too! It is just above the lead bulb. If they have water then dril a little hole and let it out. The void area you are describing is capable filling with water. The water can freeze during the winter and you guessed it, damage the boat.
