Seems that my bildge pump with the float switch does not to seem to shut off. I put in a brand new float switch in and the pump works fine. Seems water is flowing back into the bildge when it is pumped out. Any thoughts?
You are always going to get a bilge hoseful that backwashes into the bilge when the pump stops. With this in mind verify the bilge pump switch is not mounted so low in the bilge that this hoseful of "backwash" is not activating the float and causing the bilge pump to cycle on and off. Joe: Thanks for you input. Do you happen to know where the bildge water discharges? It has worked fine up to now, but that is boats. Are you a membe of Catalina's of Santa Monica Bay. We meet once a month at the Santa Monica Yacht Club. I am program chairman and we have had some great speakers... Roger
Sorry Roger, I can only help you generically if you will. I do not own a Catalina. But a bilge problem like your is not unique to Catalinas. My boat is an Ericson 30. Maybe one of the Catalina guys can tell you where the bilge pump discharges. Or you can put some water in the bilge and turn the pump on and see where it discharges. Regards, Big Joe
