Best practices for entering a new harbor

I just finished the book. I like his writing style and that was a good chapter. Lots of golden nuggets and pearls of wisdom.
He’s definitely a good writer. Just the right amount of “flower.” My all time favorite for sailing history and related topics is Samuel Eliot Morrison.

and for how not to enter harbors or get stuck for weeks, get 'Total Loss' , a wonderful collection of true stories by british yachtsmen of how they managed to wreck their boats going into or out of various harbors...
Indeed. And in it is one of the best descriptions of the relationship between sailor and boat that I’ve ever read.
