If you disconnect that jumper, you won't be able to use the house batteries to start the motor and you won't be able to use the motor battery to power any of the on board 12v stuff.

It's there just in case one of the battery banks is dead.

Therefore, no advantages to do and many disadvantages if disconnected.

Is there a reason you want to do that???

Leave it in. That "link" is the 12-volt buss. If you have the indiviual battery swithes, like my B323, the link/buss is not connecting the batteries unless they are switched "on". As Joker said, you lose your flexibilty without it.

If there are permanently linked add a switch between them. You need them separate with the option to connect in an emergency.

"The link/buss" is supposed to be on the oppostire side of the switches from the batteries, so don't think of it as connecting the batteries- it connects all the ship's positive cables to whichever battery you want ON. Otherwise, you'd have to stack all those cables on one stud, and that's more than you should have, and probably more than will fit.

I just added a second house battery and changed the switching on my B331. Now the "link" (parallels the two battery banks) is switched. I now have a choice whether the battery banks are paralleled or not. Switches are now House Bank (red), Start Battery (red) and Combine/Parallel (blue, so as not to be confused with the original black "common").
