Battery for Tank Watch

Hey All!
I’m trying to re-establish my Tank Watch that a previous owner dismantled; in doing so, he removed the wires to the batteries!
I’m wondering, instead of trying to figure the path & time of running wires to my main batteries, if I can simply connect my new wires to a small 12V battery I can place neatly under the sink?
Thanks

That would necessitate either:
1. Wiring to a charger to recharge the battery, or
2. periodic battery replacement when it dies when you need it.

Begs the question why the PO disconnected it - broken?

Thanks Don.
I’m still scratching my head as to why the guy removed the whole wiring & plugged the tank access. Guess “the grandkids were playing with it” as he claims they were with the electric head switch (he changed to a manual head, which I recently had to replace due to age & didn’t want to mess with possible problems with an electric model).

I wouldn't try to re-activate the TankWatch...I'd replace it with a system that uses sensors that are attached to the outside of the tank. The SCAD tank monitors are top rated, very reasonably priced and available from a number of sources including Amazon. Scad Tank Monitors

I had a WEMA sensor with the inertnal float sensor and was never able to keep it working for more than a month. Next move was to take it apart, :puke:, remove from the tank, :puke:, clean out the holes in the housing, :puke:, re-install the sensor, :puke:.

It's now ready for another month of problematic operation. Don't know why those sensors are not labelled NOT FOR USE IN HOLDING TANKS. I've had the original WEMA sensors in the potable water tank and diesel fuel tank for 24 years and not a blip.

You'll have a bit of re-wiring to do but well worth the effort IMO.
