Not sure I understand the context of the question...

An "eye" on a sealed battery? Usually green = good (charged).

Greenbacks are good, green (traffic) lights are good.

I am sure there are going to be a lot of other good "green" suggestions from the forum !

To start this off I am a novice at best with electric. I have had great success with batteries on my boat and I use them hard. Have a house bank of 3 group 31 agm's that are still going strong (SAMs club) bought in 2013. Before this, I had 3 group 31 flooded that I got rid of because I wanted agm's (due to location of battery compartment under aft berth and possible gas ing). When away from slip I use electric but will always keep in green. Maine sail has said keep above 12.2 on light loads and 11.7 on heavy, but green on my screen volt meter (1986) goes from 11 to 13. I typically bring to just above 11 if not on the edge. Just wanted to know if the meter green is antiquated.

Really need a digital meter to get an accurate read of the battery. An analog or worse yeta "green, yellow, red" meter just don't have enough accuracy to tell what true state of charge is.

I use a portable digital meter to check my batts once in a while or if I have been on the hook for a while.

I'm green with envy....not good

There's this Solar BA7 Digital Battery Tester that could test a battery CCA/CA pretty easily plus other functional test. Anyone tried?

NY, your best bet is to get from eBay for 2.98 a digital volt meter that plugs into a cigarette lighter 12v plug. Will easily tell you your exact voltage. Also charging voltage. Best, easiest, most helpful and lowest cost improvement I have done.

A digital voltmeter is a good start. Simple inexpensive ones work, meters that read directly from the battery are better.

Properly charging AGMs is essential for their health and well being.

Head over to Musings with Maine Sail on this forum for more than you thought you wanted to know about batteries, charging, monitoring battery performance and much more.
