For my education, why would you keep the combiner instead of going to a 1-2-both switch wired as you have shown?

If you read the 1/2B article you will see I still advise an ACR. That combiner is just a version of an ACR..

We stopped installing any and all Xantrex products in about 2015. Their customer service is horrible and reliability of their newer equipment has not been up to par with Magnum, Outback or Victron all companies that stand behind what they sell. I wish I had the confidence to recommend Xantrex but my colleagues in the industry still confirm reliability and customer service issues..

Thank you @Maine Sail

Got it. Missed that the first 4 times I read your article...

Checking my system, I realize my set-up is a bit different as I run all charging into my LFP bank, and that LFP bank then charges my two other separate AGM banks using two Balmar duo charger units. My system is a bit more complicated in that respect....

on Mainesail's advice on this board 4 years ago, I got the ProCharge Ultra , a 3 stage charger with equalization capability. easy install, works great, has a remote read so you can look at remote panel in the cabin without crawling into area below deck to see the charger itself. used it for equalizing my old 2 wet cells at the end of each season. I'm now at 5 years on the batteries and they're still load testing fine. (us old sailors on social security cannot afford Li PO' s etc. . )
