My battery charger that came with my Catalina 310, hull 59, has after four years fried my batteries that were just replaced last year. I think it is a Pro Marine charger, but not sure. Needless, to say I am not a happy camper. Does anyone know who produced the charger on this boat, and any recommendations on replacing it with a new charger. I would also like to contact the company. Any help is freatly appreciated. Dancing Shoes Catalina 310 #59

Stu, Does that person sail on Lake Mead? I do not know them, but know most sailors on Lake Mead. David

Charger Back II

David 1. I knew twin brothers, one with your name, one who married Ms. C., so thought maybe you could be one of them. Guess not. 2. Reason I sent you to our C34 website thread was the discussion about chargers. Your C310 is a newer boat, but some chargers on Cs have been miserable at best. Calling the charger company may not help anyway if it's not a 3 stage charger. Our conclusion has been to replace older chargers that aren't 3 stage with Statpower. If, OTOH, if it is a newer 3 stage charger that malfunctioned and fried your batteries, going to Catalina for a start wouldn't hurt. I've heard of ProMariner, but not Pro Marine. ProMariner was an older company that used to supply Catalina, but I don't think they're still in business (at least under that name - maybe got bought out or died completely). Stu

Thanks Stu! I went to the thread link and got all the information I needed! Also, I have a twin brother-but lives in Indiana. How strange! Thanks again! David

I've got a Charles, 20amp, 2 stage on my...

310 (hull#312), and, so far, it has been working perfectly ("knock on wood"). It's a new boat though, and I am really hoping that the electronics are wired correctly...so far so good. I suppose if I had to add a charger, I would go with Guest. I had Guest's on my last two boats and they worked great. Good luck.
