Fox,My wife and I performed a bottom job on Aurelia in 1994. We had her peeled and faired by Custom Yacht Service in Irvington, VA. I didn't want any potential for competing chemistry below the waterline, so I paid for 86 man-hours of fairing without the use of fairing compound. We applied two coats of Interprotect 1000, sanding between coats. We then applied seven coats, (14 gallons), of intreprotect 2000 over a two-day period. We use a hard epoxy bottom paint that I sand vigorously each season. The extra layers allow me to sand until I see the barrier coat without worrying about burning through to the laminate. We are stating out 12th season now without blisters. My advice to you is to take the extra afternoon and spent the extra $65 to add a couple of extra coats. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's recommendations about drying time between coats. Good luck.Fair winds,SteveS/V Aurelis
