Nick has a point
You see instruments (gps, radar, e-chart) mounted at the nav station, on the bulkhead, and at the wheel. If mounted on the nav station, they are safer from theft and weather, but of course, not as accessible for immediate use. On the bulkhead is not common. I guess easier to mount and when theres only a tiller its your only choice. At the helm, its immediately accessible but exposed to weather and an easier theft opportnity. Seem like they would be easier to break also. Most seem complex to operated (multiple button combinations, track balls, etc) meaning that they requre an additional had to operate. Also, they present a lot of info in a variety of formats that must be interpretd and mentally combined. Meanwhile your suppose to be sailing the boat. Right?Markdb
