Guy, I cannot speak for the RM7000 head...

We have a RM7000 linear drive motor and course computer with a 6000 head and it does not display waypoint data. I have a Garmin 178C that connects to the head's NMEA port. When I'm on a track the head sends me an alarm when we approach a waypoint, to let me know of a course change. I mounted the 178C at the helm where I can monitor my course. I store it below decks when I leave the boat. I build all my routes in it at the nav station. Terry

User Defined Displays

I have a Raymarine 425 chart plotter interfaced to a Raymarine 4000+ autopilot. The GPS data that is displayed on the autopilot display is user defined. I beleive there are approximatly 4 user defined displays on the 4000+. You can select to repeat data from the wind, speed, depth, gps, insturments, etc. This data can be provided via seatalk or NEMA. I would assume the 7000 whould allow this and more.

GPS Data Repeats

I have a Raytheon RC520 at the nav station which repeats GPS info to the Furuno radar at the helm via NEMA and also to the 6000 autopilot head via seatalk. RD

Still not what you want to do?

GuyH, While I understand the benefits of planning in the comfort of your salon, nothing is more intuitive than a GPS/chartplotter at the helm. While the 7000 AP control head will function as a data repeater, displaying that data is cumbersome and far too absorbing for realtime use. It will only display two data values at a time. A low end Raymarine GPS/Chartplotter will accept uploaded waypoints and will visually display waypoint data. It will also display up to 8 or more data values dynamically on the same screen and waypoint data with ease. You can upload your waypont data instantly to the helm. All for only a few hundred for than the Nav300. Consider mounting the Nav300 at the helm as a repeater, then install a RM C series or any new or used RM chartplotter at the helm where it is really useful. After spending $180,000+ on your new baby, the least you can do is spend a few extra bucks and keep you and her safe and relaxed. Jon McClain P.S. Jon, please clarify

You say 'While the 7000 AP control head will function as a data repeater, displaying that data is cumbersome and far too absorbing for realtime use.' My understanding is that all I have to do is press the 'disp' key on the 7000 to scroll through pages of data from the gps, DTW, BTW, XTE, & the autopilot page. * What do you mean by 'cumbersome and far too absorbing'? Is there more to it than this?
