I have a autohelm 3000 for my 1985 catalina 27' It might be the same year as the boat? I took it apart and lubed all the internal parts on the lower gear unit because it was frozen from years of neglect and corosion, I put it back together and everything seemed to work fine on the unit at the dock, went to sea trials and it does not want to maintain a stedy coarse, insted when I press the auto botton it wants to do a full 360 and I go in circles.... I just stepped up from a Catalina 22 that had a auto tiller that works on the same princibles that I am famillier with but never had this problem.... Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Go to the Raymarine website, download the manual and recalibrate the unit. This generally requires driving the boat in a large 360 circle.
