Hi All,

We have a 2008 H33 with a Raymarine C-80 (now known as the classic) Chart plotter with ST-60 Wind, Speed and Depth running on a Sea Talk network and we want to install an auto pilot to help out with some of the longer slogs.
We also have a Lewmar folding wheel which we love. It opens loads of room in the cockpit when we finally stop.
I am looking for some direction in which auto pilot systems people like.
We will probably stick with Raymarine, just to make the electronics somewhat easier, but I am interested in everyones thoughts on others, i.e.: Simard, B&G, Garmin, Faruno etc...

Specific questions are...

Does anyone know if the newer auto pilots work well with an older chart plotter?
Or...should we try to find a used ST series (4000, 5000, 6000 i think) that will have similar software and electronics?
Also, regarding the Wheel, Does the Raymarine Wheel drive keep the Lewmar wheel from folding? I would rather not give that up if we can avoid it.

Thanks for the help,

J&R

The wheel drive does not impede the 40" folding wheel.

I have a ST6000+ that works with the newest RM chart plotters ( mine is a98). My ST6000 uses the flux compass and rudder angle for standard course). In Track mode, it uses way points from my new chart plotter.
