Bean,What a agreat picture!Contrary to the idea that racers are testosterone filled type A, I think at high level it has to become like a ballet, every move is to be well coordinated in order 1, not to break the boat, 2 not to injure a crew mate.If you are not at that level I don't think you should make the team.After all you are working with extreme loads and on the edge of what a boat can take.When you are racing there is a process of natural elimination that occur, if one doesn't know what he is doing he will not last.Now I do not want to insinuate that all cruisers are not skilled etc. but I do regret that anyone can buy a boat and go boating (this include powerboats).I think for sailboats, racing should be mandatory for, say 2 summers; it is the best way to acquire skills and learn the rules of the road.As for the Power boaters one should not be allowed to put a licence number or registration number on the bow before actually getting a licence stating they can drive the boat!My 2øa.
