Adverted as a way to fly a spinnaker w/o a pole.As a sailor w/ 3 small kids (so that kid management is a significant part of sailing) looking to minimize downwind complexity.
I used one on my Catalina 30 when flying a Cruising spinnaker. It kept the tack of the sail close to the headstay. It did not allow the tack to fly to leeward or go forward. The Tacker really helped triming the spinnaker. I was able to get a tighter luff if needed and also ease the tack line for more cruve. I feel it made the sail easier to handle. I would reccomend one!
I use a tracker on my catalina 30, it works very well in light wind conditons. Consider using a spinnaker sleeve with the tracker and the whole process is simple and safe.
