i opened my mouth on the "rigging advice" thread and someone will probably step in it but, it brings up a question, and quandry that i am in on my rigging. right now i use a downhaul on my h23 and like the simplicity and reliability of it. i am looking at rerigging my boat this winter and don't know if i want the extra complication of roller furling but have seen a double forestay rig that looks interesting. double stays using 2 triangular plates, (one plate at the mast end and 1+ 2 turnbuckles at the chainplate/deck end so tension can be individually adjusted), ....not for strength but to be able to sail wing & wing with 2 headsails or to be able to hank on another sail while the jib is still in place and then drop the jib, (genoa or whatever). any experience or advice with such a rig?
