db's are usually OK, it's the web pages
It's rare that a database is hacked (and never for email addresses, they don't have enough value). The problem comes when your address is displayed in an html page, ie., you put it in a forum post, a guestbook message, a classified ad, something that hsows up on a page. The crawler crawls html pages and records anything in the format username@domain.com.The good ones let you point it at a Google search term and crawl all the sites that come up in the results.Sick, eh?
