anchor windlass installation

My body demands I install an anchor windlass! I have a Hunter 290. Hunter Marine not any help! Anyone out there with help/advice would be appreciated. Atalanta

Have you made an inquiry to the windlass manufacturer whose product you are planning to purchase? Do you have an anchor locker?

Good suggestions Joe. Yes to both. Manufacturers tend to give dimensions only. Even Hunter "refers" my questions.

Most windlass chain falls straight down, but for Hunter, and 290, I believe you need the chain to fall forward. Simpson Lawrence has option for lower part with cut-out in front for forward drop.

Can't speak for the Simpson Lawrence but a Maxwell VW10-8 mounted just aft of the anchor locker might be a viable solution.

i have a manual abi and an electric lofrans 1000....both function well.
make sure the hawse for the chain is directly under the gypsy, so chain goes directly into hole....helps to retrieve chain.
life is a lot better with a windlass.
