My 1979 C30 has a Optimus alcohol stove. Been have problems w/ the burners. Optimus website does not appear to be helpful. Please advise of 1) where to get replacement parts on this old stove and/or 2) how can this be converted to propane? Thanks.
I wouldn't think a propane conversion would be too practical or cost effective. You'd have to replace all the burners and piping. You'd most likely have to replace it with a stove designed for propane. Installing a complete propane system with sensors and alarms will cost about $400-$500 not counting the new stove. I converted my princess alcahol stove a few months ago. Its very easy to do if you know what parts to get. I did post pictures and instructions on the Catalina 25 National association site. If you go to their site and do a search Im sure you can find it. I also bought and converted a stainless BBQ from charcoal to propane. Way better than the magma and all for 70 dollars.
