has anyone added air to a 310, most importantly the location of the unit and ducts?

Air conditioner/heater was installed by the first owner. The raw water intake thru-hull is aft near the drive shaft. Lift a cushion, unscrew a deck plate and open/close the seacock. The exhaust water is on the stern, sending the water directly aft. The compressor is located in the cockpit locker on the port side, as far foward as seems practical. The SMX control is mounted on the port side cabinet in the salon cabin. The air return is located in the aft cabin ceiling, apparently below the cockpit locker. There are three vents along the port side: Aft cabin (aft of the sliding cabinet). Salon cabin (on top of the book cabinet). Foward cabin (on top of the port side cabinet). We have added 12 volt Hellas fans near the two forward vents, which helps circulate the air from the cooling/heating system. All-in-all, this system works well. We may make two modifications. Divert the condensation tray to an overboard discharge, instead of into the bilge. Consider moving the raw water discharge to the port quarter, as the stream of water directly astern arcs outward and makes quite a noisy fountain.

I installed mine in the forward section of the port cockpit locker. There’s lots of room, easy access for maintenance and easy routing for the water intake and discharge. We sleep in the vee birth so this location also provides for a very quiet operation. The water intake seacock is in the same area as the head intake so it's easy to get to via the hatch in the shower. It's been working just fine for the past four years – and in July & August it gets *!*! hot in southern IL and MO!
