For a 20 dollar bill you can have a new foam and frame. These things will last for years so as Claude "argues" why mess with something we may not be sure about. Each time you change your oil, just wash the foam with warm water and soap. Squeeze out the excess water and let it dry. Reinstall it and you are ready to go. I could not agree with him more. Air, Oil and fuel filters go OEM. If someone comes up with something better, then maybe it is something to look at. The idea of saving $1-2 on a filter makes NO logical sense to me. If I have to try to get Fram or Napa to buy me a new engine because their filter failed, I'll probably be dead before they ever pay off.
