in the mid atlantic area the water can get up to 85 degrees, so you have heat coming from above and below. In New England with the cold water you have a much lower cooling requirement. Since the hull is solid FRP the heat from the water conducts through the hull and then radiates and convects into the interior. You should plan on the higher BTU's IMHO

Excellent point which I really didn't contemplate. Anyone thinking a 14000 BTU would be too big? Leaning toward a MarineAire unit and they come in 11k or 14k. Plan to put in the forward hanging locker and split the output to the v-birth and main saloon.

Thanks all for responses. Concerned with grasses in the Bay. 1. Any suggested water filter/strainers? 2. Any recommendations other than Annapolis CruiseAir to help with installation?

I used a Groco raw water strainer, grass not so much a problem, it's the frickin' stinging nettles that get sucked up that stops the water flow. The dreaded E4 error in the middle of a hot summer's night.
