after market rudder

Hi,

I was considering replacing my stock rudder on my catalina 27 tall rig for the
performance rudder made by rudder craft. Has anyone done this, and if sow, did you see any of the improvements they claim ?

I bought one for my O-Day 22 and it was a big improvement over the factory rudder. Better helm balance and boat speed.

Ditto to Rudder Craft, (Idasailor), recently put a fixed rudder on our C-22 MK-II version, like power steering now! Why oh why doesn't the factory follow suit?

Any is an improvement over the stock C27 rudder. Speaking as someone who worked at the factory, that's probably the worst rudder they ever made. Somewhere along the way I found the time to come up with a new blade shape for the C30 as seen here:

Still haven't gotten to redoing the C27 but it's on the list. Thoughts?

A friend of mine owns a 1986 Catalina 34 and he replaced his original rudder with the "performance" rudder. He was skeptical but did it anyway. He said the difference was immediate and amazing. The boat turned on a dime, tracked well, and he thought it pointed slightly higher.
