Submarines don't have screen doors
There's a reason that no boat manufacturer (that I'm aware of) puts an opening hatch in teh side of the hull. If you look at the port lights that are located in the sides of sailboat hulls, you will find that they are non-opening. That is because there is a high probability that they will be under water when the boat is heeled. According to Murphy (whoever he is), if anything can go wrong, it will, and having a portlight open while under water would not make anyone's day.The port lights that Catalina puts in the aft cabin are all in-board, in the cockpit. You might want to seriously reconsider your plan of putting an opening port in teh sside of tghe hull.SteveAlchemistHolland, MI
