Hi All, Can anyone post some advice on the type of bottom paint to use on your C30 and why? West Marine brand? Interlux? Petit? Ablative or non Ablative? I sail the boat regularly(twice a month minimum) if that makes much of a difference. My boat is located in Ventura, CA. Advice from people in the southern CA. area would be greatly appreciated. I'm hauling out soon to start my first experience at painting the bottom. Thanks, Jack

I like Interlux

I have been using Interlux Micro CNC Ablative since day 1. It's good paint, keeps the growth down and doesn't build up. After the initial 3 coats (1 red, 2 blue) I only touch up now when ever I see the red coming through. Basicaly I only use about a half gallon a season. Most importantly I'm not getting a thick build up that eventually will have to be removed $$$. I'm also using Interlux Trilux on my prop & shaft.

Interlux Micron CSC

Jack, This year I went with 2 coats of Micron CSC based on recommendations from racing friends. My Cat 30 easily reaches hull speed with this paint. In a 31 mile race, we "walked away" from a Cat 30 using asymetrical spinnaker against our 153% Genoa. The bottom paint may have been a factor. Wendell S/V Purrin Cat 30 #1492

paint

I would check with the local boat yard as they have been painting bottoms for a long time. They should know which works the best...
