Advice for newbie on equipping a boat with a Main Sail

Remove the screws that hold the boom cap in place and pull the cap out. I’m betting there is a way to secure the gooseneck’s tang to the cap once you have acces to the inside.

It's a roller-reefing boom, right? I don't know anything about these devices but something tells me the pin is round and smooth and inserts into a mating sleeve ... well, there won't be anything that fixes the boom to the gooseneck because it is supposed to spin, so my guess is that it is intended to be held in place simply by pressure from the aft end.

There is naturally compression on the boom when sailing so that pin would be unlikely to come out.
How hard would it be to bore a hole for a clevis pin? If OP doesn’t want the bore a hole in the stainless, I’m sure a machine shop could.
