My wife and I enjoy a 1998 C320. We leave the refrigeration system on with food and drinks stored in it. We found everthing defrosted recently I ask the serviceman at the marina and was told to check the fuse which I did and it was burnt out, I replaced it and as soon as the power was turned on it burnt out.The breaker fuse on the boat's power panel doesn't pop out. I called Adler/Barbour and was told to send in the Cold Machine's control panel and how to check the compressor windings and when I checked them they were shorted out, the condensor fan is ok. Adler/Barbour said the control panel had a short also. When I ask what would cause the control panel and compressor to short out I was told a power surge and was probably from lighting, everything else on the boat works and there are taller mast on both sides of out boat. Need some help in Texas.

Cold Machines

The control box on my Cold Machine quit last summer. When it went it took the fuse on the boat, but not the fuse on the control panel. The compressor and panel were made in Denmark by Danfoss. A call to helpful Waeco, the makers of Adler-Barbour instructed me to test the compressor and panel, this confirmed the panel at fault. It seems as though Adler has developed their own compressor controller. Once I replaced the black box it came back to life again. It seems as though the Danfoss box was somewhat troublesome, the improved Waeco unit is supposed to be a major improvement in reliability. John.
