I am looking for advice on an adjustable Genoa Car System for my 1984 Cat 27. Any suggestions? If possible, please indicate where I might find a system and how much I should expect to pay. Thanks for the help.

Car System

Ken: Most C27s have an outside toe rail. If you have this in place then you will need only a lead block on a car. A popular set up is to use a twin-sheet block on the car....cost per block on a car is roughly $100. If you are racing the boat you will want to put in an additional track next to the cabin with a single standup block on a car. Cost of track is roughly $10/ft. Stand up block is roughly $50.00 per block. You will need 2-3 ft. of track per side. Hope that this helps...I put on an inside track this year and it greatly helped my pointing ability...

Dave, where did you put your inboard tracks?

Do you have to rig your sheets under the life lines when you fall off to a beam reach?

Track is installed ... What type of cars?

Dave, I have a track installed between the genoa winches and the toe rail. What type of blocks and cars did you use and where did you find them? Thanks, Ken

Garhauer

The best deal you will ever find is the Garhauer adjustable blocks. Everything you need is under $300 (for both port and SB!)

Track Location

Ken: I located my tracks as far inboard as possible (next to the cabin on the deck level). They were placed as far back as possible where the cockpit rail begins to flare. Yes, when reaching and running the sheets need to be rerun. The idea behind bringing the sheets inboard is to get a better lead angle when beating and hopefully getting a better point angle. I use a 140 genoa.
