We have an O'Day 272 and installed a 12,000 btu Mermaid... Should have been 16,000 btu but that is my only complaint....in Kansas with many hot days, the unit will not keep up...the compresser would freeze up trying...finally, after 145 emails with Mermaid and many telephone calls, I decided to install an in-duct fan which keeps the air moving and solved my problem. I believe Mermaid was not particulaily familar w/the boat, and I really failed to size it properly according to their suggested formula. The unit is quiet, the thermostat works well, and boy does it make sleeping on a hot summer night a wonderful experience. I have had this unit for 7 years and am very happy with it now.....by the way...the condensator works incredibly well....PatrickI installed a Mermaid 16.5K last year and am very happy with it. They're a little less power-hungry, and have the longest warranty (5 years) in the business. Also great factory/technical support.
This couldn't be more true! i had to translate some french electrical indications on the circuit board to figure out what tab took the positive, neg, and ground.. They are good units though, installed my 9000 btu unit this past spring and it cooled well all summer as well as heated in the fall.. i wish i bought a larger sized unit though..I went with a Webasto heat/air kit from Defender. Once installed the unit works well. But the install instructions are horrendous.
If installed per the manual the unit will not work. Webasto tech support acknowledged this.
Having to undo bulkhead modifications, then redo them as well as hose and wiring runs because of a bad translation from Chinese to German to English does not make a happy customer. :cussing::cussing::cussing::cussing::cussing:
