Pump runs continuosly. Provides plenty of water pressure but does not cycle off when compressor shuts down. Unit is a new Mermaid 16500 BTU reverse cycle unit. Have checked all wiring and have gone through reset procedure with thermostat. Manufacturer tech support believes it to be a thermostat programming issue and is sending a new unit. However when I remove the thermostat from the system pump continues to run. Any ideas?

Make sure that the blower fan and the pump are on the correct terminals on the main circuit board.. The fan can be programmed to constantly run.. but the water pump should be shutting down. If the wires were on the wrong terminals, it might easily do that. if not, then a stuck relay in the pump circuit. or worst case... a bad chip in the main control board.
