1001 questions
I am constantly amazed by how inconsistent the 37c appear from year to year. I also have a 1984 and when I read about travelers, iceboxes, etc - I don't recognize my own boat. I have the Yanmar 40HP engine- traveler not (nor has ever been) in the cockpit, 2 bladed prop. We do seem to share the same problems - leaking holding tanks, mysterious drain from the reefer, water leaks, etc.In response to the questions asked, I have only one really good suggestion: As a fine wine connoisseur, I use the kevlar like material from empty (and much appreciated) 5 liter wine box bladders as insulation inside the lazerette entrance to the icebox. Filling the used bladders with water, freezing into the same shape as the condenser, then placing around the condenser immensely increases the efficiency of the refrigeration unit. The 37c is a fine boat but must be adapted to the area sailed. In Hawaii, the designed sails don't cut the mustard. I very seldom use the staysail and have added a 130% furlable jib, which can be used in light winds to the 20 trades. The only other suggestion I would have is to keep reading the posted articles; I have had my 37c for 9 years and constantly learn new stuff from this website.Kalaukia
