Hunter 25.5 Fort Worth
I'm in the process of restoring a 1984 Hunter 25.5. I dropped the mast this week for various repairs and found a small message lying in the cockpit floor. It must have come out of the mast somewhere. I assume it was put up there at the factory. I’ll put it back in when I send her back up.

Me too. We can exchange some ideas for upgrades and convenience designs. Which Keel do you have?

Not sure on the hi mama,
but owners do it for luck, like cabinetmakers years back did when building a home,
good luck! we put ours back with a new one from us on the re-step.

It was a old tradition for ship builders to place a coin under the mas when stepping it. It was to bring good luck to the ship and her crew. Ancient Romans placed a coin there so that the crew could pay there way to the after life if the ship was wrecked. Some ship builders now weld a coin under the radar mast.

That's sweet.

I've been a member of various performance groups thru the decades and I always remember my mom to whatever audience may be in attendance.

It is fitting and proper.
