A curious day at the marina

I'm thinking that the topping lift had a wrap or two around the backstay before he left the dock. The tangled topping lift prevented the mainsail from easing. Trying to fix the problem, he pulled the topping lift which dragged the aft end of the boom up the backstay. NO, this has not happened to me!!

Sounds plausible - about the only way i could imagine for the boom to get up that high.
