Craigslist and eBay can be real crap shoots but you may find a needle in a hay stack. Often the boats in better condition go through brokers and the junk is sold of CL or eBay. There are always outliers but some of the boats I've worked on that were CL specials are definitely "special" alright....

What ever you do be sure to hire a COMPETENT surveyor...

Hi Rick,

Try sailboatlistings.com and search by state. You can also try ABLBoats.com and Craigslist does work. That's where I found my Wanderer. I also agree that a good surveyor is money well spent.

SailingTexas is a free site for selling boats and is used pretty frequently. I found my boat there and the boat was actually located in New Bern NC. I'm in Charleston SC so it all worked out. Got a great deal on my 1971 Pearson 33 a few years ago.

+1 (or maybe it's -1?) on Craigslist. I've looked at a couple clapped out heaps in the last couple of weeks that were supposed to be in "good condition, just needs..." and was about to drive over to Tampa to look at what was suppossed to be an Allied Seawind but looked a lot more like an old Hunter when the guy finally posted pics to his ad.
No more road trips for CL. ads.

All I can say is my luck was different. I made six road trips up and down Florida looking at Allied Seawinds and Alberg 30's listed on Yachtworld, sailboatlistings.com and ABLboats and passed on all of them, even after having two of them surveyed. I found the Wanderer in Satellite Beach on craigslist. Luck's like that sometimes.

By the way, I did see an Allied Seawind II in Satellite Beach last year but I was told the owner wasn't selling at the time. If you need a lead, I may be able to help you find the owner.

Thanks Wanderer. I was kinda interested in the Tampa one because it was cheap.
Glad your luck was better than mine.
Don't really need another boat but I keep looking anyway. Probably a psychological problem.:bang:
