I plan to visit the Annapolis show this weekend. My primary objective is to get information about the installation of an A/C unit in my C320. Does anyone have some suggections as to make/model, installation location, etc? Thanks!

320 AC

Hi Fred, I see your from Crisfield. That's my home town however I currently live in Myrtle Beach. I'll be in Crisfield this weekend. I have a 320 with A/C. I used a 12000 btu and it works find. It's installed in the port lazerett in the forward with a vent over the fridge and one in the aft cabin. The return is in the aft cabinet. If you would like some pic let me know or contact me off the list. ptyler@sccoast.net Pat

Thru Hull ?

I am also thinking about adding AC next year. Currently looking at the Mermaid line. A friend put a 6000 in his Cat 30. It's a little underpowered, would suggest 9k or 12k btu's. Has anyone done this using an existing thru hull? I hate to put another hole in the boat.

A/C in a C320

I installed a 16500 BTU unit in the aft compartment starboard side on a shelf over the fuel tank. Vents are in the aft cabin and over the fridge. Duct runs thru port lazarette to fridge vent. Return air duct located in aft cabin near aft cabin vent. Works great, I leave it on all the time at the dock to prevent mold and mildew and keeps boat at 75 degrees.

A/C install

I installed a 7000 btu Kruisin Kool under the port setee. I didn't find this to be a very convenient storage space so I didn't mind losing it. The lazerette space would be much more of a loss. Also, because it is centrally located in the boat, it does a great job of cooling even though it is a small (inexpensive) unit. The return grill is mostly hidden in the aft end of the setee under the nav. There are two 4" supply vents in the vertical front face of the setee, one forward and one aft. I T'd into the head intake for a water supply line, located the pump in the bilge, and T'd into the scupper drain on the transom for the exhaust water. The whole job cost $500 in parts and $675 for a scratch and dent Kruisin Kool (the case is a throw-away) which I purchased directly from the mfg. I'll email pictures if you want them. JC
