80-82 Hunter 36: Under the Clamshell + Sliding Hatch

I have a 1980 Cherubini Hunter H36. I recently removed and re-installed the "clam shell" over the companionway sliding hatch to deal with and investigate several requirements: 1) traveler repair/modification, 2) the sliding hatch, and 3) to inspect if some small leaks into my boat during torrential downpours might be coming from the unseen void under the clam shell.

Before I take the time to write down the process and post pictures, I would first like 36 owners (and I think also the 37's had the same setup) to express the level of interest ...

I don't recall over the last 7/8 years that I have been on SBO seeing anyone post about the clam shell and what is underneath. Maybe because this is not a problem area in general on our boats?

So let me know. Might take me a few days to get around to it.

I would be very interested. When I purchased my boat several months ago the hatch would only slide open a little way. This turned out to be due to a screw that holds the translucent part of the hatch to its slides being part way out. I believe this was due to a prior attempted break in.

I had to remove the screw (which I was able to do without removing the clamshell) to address the problem but would like to remove the clamshell to clean, re-seal etc. it looks to me like this requires removal of the traveller but I'm not sure.

I'd much appreciate any input regarding this.

Many thanks.

That's great. Thanks. No rush here. Were buried in snow and it's too cold to do anything but plan and dream of being back on the water.

Would love that. Trying to track down a weird leak over the nav table right now
