Back to the story...
Just curious, does anyone rescued at sea have to pay the cost, or just those who need it because of fraud or incompetence? (We have a “Stupid Motorists” law here in Arizona where if you drive into a marked flooded area, you pay for the helicopter ride.)

there is so much wrong with this story the thread could go 12 pages without a single mention of their facial characteristics...
But it didn’t. I apologize for jumping onto a bandwagon that some folks find offensive. Can we please get back to appropriate bashing and leave the rest alone now?

OK... Someone woke me up again. Not good. Soon I might be banning people. Not good. So fair warning. Stick to the topic at hand and dispense with the remarks about gender and politics. Let's leave it at that and figure out if this episode is a scam or real.

On a video I watched about a Coast Guard rescue, the spokesperson said they do not charge for rescues. That is part of their job to "keep the seas safe and keep us safe from the seas" (my words). Now I don't know about the Navy.

Early on the coverage said they weren't looking at criminal charges. I don't know if that would change if it turns out to be a hoax. I guess you could call it "training" but warships have better things to do.

I'm thinking the EPIRB is going to be their downfall of the whole story. As I see it they tried to activate the EPIRB and screwed it up causing an ID10T error. Or, perhaps the Hydrographic Overpressure Activation X chip was incorrectly set, causing a HOAX failure.

I haven't heard anything about drugs. Did those provisions get searched? What else could explain this story?

Here is a starboard side view of the boat. Looks a little heavy in the stern.

Is there a difference, as far as an insurance claim is concerned, between scuttling your disabled boat or abandoning it with the intent to attempt to recover it? I find it interesting that they didn’t scuttle it (that we know of, perhaps they engineered a small leak), and made quick public statements about finding it again, and also their desire to set out on another sail soon.

I think their story is full of shit, but I'm really opposed to this type of gender shaming.

Do you guys have daughters? Wives or SOs?? If these were guys, would you be commenting on their looks???
Amen Jackdaw. I don't understand what her looks have to be with anything.
