It's like New Year's Eve

on the highways. I'm with Benny and some others: like Opening Day and Fleet Week, all the crazies come out.

I enjoy my boat enough to avoid the idiots and can sail some other time.

No sailing til the 5th as my lake is loaded with power boats over the 4th weekend and it gets very crowded. BBQ at home with the kids on the 4th then walk tot he park for fireworks. Hoping the rain holds off on the 5th so we can have a nice afternoon sail.

Wow, you guys must have crowds of powerboats. I don't expect to see but a few until noon. Hopefully I will be there by then. Everybody be safe.

Marc, you are quite far south but never try to sail a small boat on the Sassafras River on a summer weekend.

Saturday evening we're going on a dinner cruise aboard a stern wheel paddle boat.

The 4th itself will be a rip and tear, cuss and curse day for me while I finally get back to working on the my boat electrical boat project.

The evening of the 4th, my wife and her sister will meet me at the marina to watch the Havre de Grace fireworks. Later we'll watch all the boats attempt to miss each other out on the Susquehanna flats in the dark. (Points given to the observer who first notices a reversed set of nav lights).

Ross, I live 9 miles from Ocean City. I don't go anywhere near there in the summer. We have a powerboat that gets little use from May to August because of the idiots. I like my Nanticoke river. Except for a few crab boats and pots, there are wide open spaces with a few sightings of sailboats for miles. uh, I mean its terrible here, the water stinks, DNR stops everyone, the docks wash away in the winter, uh, people shoot at you, uh, no one in there right mind would want to come here.

Sunday is forecast to be nearly 100 degrees and every powerboater on the river will be out driving fast and drinking hard trying to keep cool. I will keep the boat in the slip and maybe go sailing on Tuesday when most people have gone back to work.
Same here. I never go sailing on any of the long week ends. If I take the boat out, it will be as a 'power boat' only.

We're spending three nights on the boat heading north. We're not sure yet how far we're going, that depends on the weather. We've been looking to see where there's fireworks on Saturday and Sunday so we can catch a couple of good shows. Can't wait!!!

This is our third season with our boat. I have never been out on the 4th but always wanted to. We just got back from a week long adventure taking us from Vineyard Haven, Edgartown and Nantucket with no reservations. There were more vacant slips and moorings than occupied. Has anyone noticed that? We're thinking of anchoring in New Bedford this year but have the same concerns....alcohol.

My truck rear end is giving me problems so I'm not going far. We'll be taking the inlaws out (1st time) on out Lancer 25 on Monday. My mother-in-law will be great. (I got lucky. I love that woman dearly. After 29 years shes still a PEACH!) . My father-in-law will have kittens everytime the boat heals more than 1 degree. But a lesurely pace around the islands and along Old Orchard Beach and back will probably take four hours. Just about right.

I'd rather take the Mrs. back to the island and . . . you know. Hey, she in the shower right now. I wonder if .... .. ... . . .
