I have to admit, I've never had that problem on the fridge but have experienced it on the freezer

A royal pain in the A** to line up, I ended up using some blutak stuck on the catch and literally painting it with water based paint (colouring pen would do it as well I guess) so when I closed the lid it marked exactly where the receiver needed to be.

My freezer plate is working great but nothing inside actually freezes - can get slushy if I'm lucky but that's all

We should start a new thread about freezers I think ? :)

I found with our freezer it works much better if it is full of something. I would put a few big bags of ice in the bottom to provide some thermal mass and reduce the air space in the box.

I am going to try a big bag of Styrofoam peanuts in the bottom to take up the unused space this year. It will provide extra insulation and they can be slowly removed as the freezer fills up with food.
