Hey all,

Do you prefer 3M Premium Filler or MarineTex to fair a C-Smile?

Regards,

Jeffrey

Personally, I use Sonolastic NP-1 polyurithane caulk.
On the hard for the winter I used a dremel tool to make the smile a uniform V-groove. I let it sit until the smile/groove quits weeping, then I used acytone to do the final dry and surface prep. followed by the caulk. After it set up I used a razor blade to fair it flush. That was 2 winters ago and it came out of the water last fall looking, (after power washing), the same as it went in.

I just never understood trying to "glass" over, every year, a joint that obviously is going to continue to flex and crack (which I bet happens on the first stout wave).

I used West Systems epoxy which is easy to use, cause it comes in a caulk gun tube.
It comes out clear & very soft & pliable, but when it hardens it turns hard as a rock.
So its best to shape & form it when its wet, before it sets up. It takes over 24 hours to fully cure, so it gives you plenty of time to work & shape & fair the epoxy.
