I've have enjoyed my 84Hunter34 since 2008 with no problems...until now. My engine is a 3GMF, I'm trying to obtain and replace the following item: a braided fuel line between the primary and secondary fuel pumps, about 8 to 10 inches long. A leak has developed at the compressed fitting of the braided line to the steel tubing. A very unlikely place and very cramped spot. i did manage to stop the leak for approx. 3 hours, we had to motor coming back from vacation, with rescue tape, and could only speak well of this tape. However the leak returned as it is very difficult to manipulate the tape around the the line and fitting and get a proper seal.
Also another boater did help me with other another type of tape that helped as well.
Boaters are such a helpful bunch :).
From this moment on, i will be carrying additional tape to assist another boater....
Any help with identifying the part number so i can get the replacement would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks, Yvan

Yvan, the line from the pump to the filter is 128390-59080
the line from the filter to the injection pump is 128390-59010
I don't recall which is braided but I think it is the one from the lift pump to the engine mounted fuel filter. Get some new copper gaskets for the fittings while you are there !!

Thank you very kindly Claude for all the info, including the heads up on the copper gaskets.

If you have trouble getting the new hose in a short time frame you can cut the crimp collar off the hose and install a screw clamp. This should help as a short term solution.

Fuel Lines...

Claude has the part numbes correct but both "pipes" are shown as solid ones in my Yanny parts manual.

I know for sure that the one between the lift pump and filter is a solid one as it's a bugger to get lined up properly without leaks. I ended up "floating" the filter assembly until I got both lines connected tightly following a banjo washer replacement.

I don't recall the other one begin braided but that could be on a newer engine.

You are welcome, yvan
Interesting, Dan.. I am looking at the hose from the pump to the filter on mine right now and it is a gray braided hose that has a "U" bend so that it dips down past the oil dipstick.. Pretty sure it is original.. Much easier to line up.. but the one from the filter to the inj pump is a hard pipe.. Can't get a useful picture of it through the oil dipstick access port..

Don't overcompress (over tighten) the copper washers! Copper is soft and if you over tighten the washer they flatten out too flat and leak. Tighten a little past snug and if they don't leak, don't tighten any more. (And if I recall correctly, there are two washers on each fitting-one on either side of the "banjo" fitting of the hose. Goes like this:

Bolt goes thru->washer->hose fitting->washer->into hole

Understand?

Here is another twist in the copper gasket problem.. There are some excellent nitrile covered copper gaskets available to replace the originals. They do not leak.. When I changed my lift pump last year, I bought 4 and used them on the pump banjos.. EXCELLENT.. The banjos on the pump are smaller than the others .. if I remember correctly.. If ya talk nice to the parts guys, he might sell ya some..

Leaky Fuel line...

Claude, verrrry interesting!!!

I'll try to take a pic of my set-up next trip down to the boat. I'll also need to get some of those coated washers for the next fuel line leak issue.

Leaky Fuel Line Update...

Attached are several pics I was finally able (and remembered!) to take of the yanny fuel filter assembly. Note that both input and output lines are solid metal tubes.

Flexible tubing such as Claude's would make it easier to make up the banjoe connection and not have it leak due to misalignment.
