3GMF HE gasket/seal question

So today I took off my heat exchanger cap to see how it looked. Turns out there is a piece of old impeller in there. So it's good I looked.

My issue is that there is a strange seal on the cap that I can't seem to find online. The one that came off in pieces is round, but it has a little divider to keep most of the flow down on the inside 8 holes. When I look online it shows a normal o-ring instead of one with a divider... In all honesty I'm sure the divider is not that necessary as most of the flow is directed at those holes anyhow. Anyone know where to find a gasket like that? It was so brittle.. I'm not sure if it was a gasket or O-ring.

Thanks for any insight. And I do plan on cleaning it up before re installation

Thanks, Chad

There are two separate seals.. the fat O-ring seals the tube bundle to the shell and the other one seals the head of the exchanger to the tube bundle to keep the flow going into the correct tubes and not all ow any short circuiting of water.. The part number for the strange shaped one is 128695-44070 . there is one in each end. the o-ring part number is 24311-000700.

Pop quiz. .. what size is the raw water intake hose on a H34 I forgot to mesure before I left the boat and I want to buy the hose before I make the trip back. (30 min 1 way trip)

I know it's not 3/4 that's too big... but is it 1/2 or 5/8th?

Thanks!

Answer for future internet seachers: For my 1983 Hunter 34 the raw water intake system is 5/8 hose.
