Even if you have a 3rd gen anchor (rocna/mason/mantus etc) technique is still very important. They aren't magic lol You can'd just throw them out and forget about it. Something I knew intellectually, but had to properly learn when I got my own boat.
For example I dragged 50% of the time with my properly sized rocna on 5/16" g43 chain at 5:1 or better on my trip from Ft. Lauderdale to Hilton Head until I figured out my technique for anchoring in soft fluffy mud, which is different than sand, shell, clay etc.
So don't assume because you're dragging a new anchor will solve it, or inversely that if you drag you anchor is junk.
