34/35 shower sump

Correct no sump it drains into the bilge. Keeping your bilge dry will be tough. Water can get in from the stuffing box and openings in the mast plus condensation. I have no idea how to add a sump the bilge is the only place lower than the floor. So to drain the shower the sump would have to be in the bilge.

Our 37 has a panel in the floor of the head/shower with a drain that I rigged a host to one of these

One through hull now drains the galley sink, head sink, shower, and A/C using this setup.

The sump on my.' '87 O'day 35 is the shower floor. There is a drain which connects to a pump under the port setee, this then pumps the shower drain overboard.

Very good idea to run the drain hose from the shower directly to a pump, hadn't thought of that. A "Y" valve on the toilet raw water through hull would allow that to be used for the discharge. I like it. Do you have a wooden access panel in the floor of the shower like mine? I assume that is sealed somehow to not leak into the bilge?

I'm thinking just get a hose, connect it to the drain in the shower. Connect the other end to a typical water pump, like a washdown pump or similar. So the water stays in the shower pan until you turn on the pump and pump it dry. The pump can go under the port settee adjacent to the head bulkhead where your on demand water pump is located. Then add a y valve to the head intake so in one direction the head intake works, in the other direction you pump the shower overboard using the same thru hull. I think I might be talking myself into this project. :>)

There is an access panel, covered by a piece of Teak & Holly, on the floor of my O' 35. The "seal" is a bead of silicone that the panel sits on top of.

I would NOT use a Y valve on the toilet intake, unless you want to run hair through your toilet, which could lead to other issues. There are two small discharge through hulls, both above the waterline, under the sink. One of them is for the sink, the other is for the shower.

If you pull up the panel you describe, you will find the FG pan that the O'34 has.(BTW- the "closet" is referred to as a "hanging locker.") There is no access here.

The only access under the floor pan is in the head compartment, under that panel (unless you take a saw to the pan - I would advise against that).

You can put a 1-1/8" ID bilge hose on the stub of the drain, and attach it with a hose clamp.

This pump will frequently run dry, and will have to contend with soap, and hair. You should use a shower drain pump, and not a washdown pump.

How about running the drain hose into a "y" valve that then goes to the macerator pump. Then you don't need another pump, the macerator can be used for both purposes?
