There is a nut inside the flange, it isn't the same size as the one on the transmission end; it is a bit bigger. I can't remember the exact size. It is obviously metric... don't even try SAE here you'll just strip everything. Once this nut has been removed you will probably need a puller to pull the flange off the shaft and it is here that there is very little space to work with; I had to get a lower profile puller (and heat & a mallet) to get the job done. The pic is of a 393 but the flange & shaft are similar though the stuffing box isn't.
Working all this under the rear cabin bunk isn't easy: the first thing I would do is get the mattress and bunk boards out of there and wait at least until it gets warm enough to spend a while in the boat without freezing. Between working and "gofering" it took me the better part of two (3) days to get the job done!
