I have Hull 282 and last week the Fixed port on the starboard side has started leaking-really bad. After closing inspection the top has seperated from the black sealant. I have rebed the ports on my Spirit 6.5 and Cal 2-25, but these were the type that screwed into the boat. My newer boats the ports are not screwed in -the Black sealant holds them in place. Has anyone ever rebed these type of fixed ports. Any help would be great. Fairwinds!

Hey Sceptresailor...

Try to follow me on this one...GE makes a silicone sealant especially for bedding down hatches (etc.). Unfortunately, I can't remember what the exact product code is for this material. It IS a black sealant that I used to re-bed a replacement for a cracked portlight lense on my last boat (Hunter 29.5)...I now am the proud owner of a C-310 (hull#312). You might want to contact Catalina direct and found out what they use...then, simply(!!) carve out the sealant on your current hatch, clean it out, and re-bed it...or, call Fran Butler at Catalina. Good luck and Fair Winds!!!
