I ve been wondering if any of the Mark I or II's could be fitted with a wing from a III. Has anyone out there attempted this? Why? Because the lakes are dropping, I want to move up to a 30 and desire to gunkhole in the North Channel someday and BINGO, an older boat has come up with a damaged, partically separated keel. wow, would seek profession advise before taking that one on! The hull is cracked too. Nice boat otherwise, no serial # , guessing a II. Was there ever a shoal draft 30? Thanks. Yes, I could wait for the III's to drop in price, but I lke the 82's or so interiors better and they can be had around here around 20.

shoal draft

we own 1976 cat30 #285, standard rig, shoal draft:4'-4", i was thinking it would be nice to have a wing keel for our boat- we sit in the mud at low tide- and can't get out at least 1 hour before and 1 hour after low tide. i had a swing keel Cat25 we changed to a wing keel and it was great. Catalina could tell you if the wing keel will fit the boat you are looking at.

Custom Cast Keel

If the boat alread needs a new keel, maybe a custom cast one would be best. That way you KNOW it will fit and work properly...

Bill, this has been done. I saw an older C-30, advertised in the boat trader here in Florida last year that had a wing keel put on. You should call Catalina. They would tell you.
