Wiring Harness

Al Go to the link for the harness. This is a good link since it also includes the GIF files for the wiring diagrams for you to download Don't understand the 3 blade prop C27 part or your question. Yes, there are three blade props. :) Try an archive search on props, I'm sure you'll find tons of stuff. Stu

Doing the harness mod right now...

Hey there Al. I have a 3-bladed prop, what do you need to know about it? Actually, all I can tell you is that it walks to port in reverse (I bought it with the prop on it). As for the harness, I just started the harness mod yesterday. Its going to take a lot more work than usual because I am also redoing all the instruments (I bought new instruments and made a custom panel). If I were just changing the harness the job seems pretty cut and dry. I read the mod info (link below) and called Seaward and they hooked me right up with the parts and literature I needed. Good luck! --Greg

Complex or simple

I am not sure from your post what you need, but I fried by engine harness, and was delighted to find I could buy a replacement all made up. (See link below.) I replaced the engine harness, but not the harness from the plug to the plug by the control panel. It was pretty easy just to take off the old one and connect the new on in the same way. I know that there are ways nto upgrade at the same time, but they were a little above my neophyte skills, and it works great! I also have a 3 blade with the 5411, and I appreciate the extra bite in the bumpy waters of Nantucket Sound. Since I don't race much, the drag does not concern me overly. Good luck. replacement harness costs??

I'm contemplating making the replacement harness upgrade on my boat. I've read some of the info concerning it and it doesn't look/sound to be too difficult, just time consuming. What does Seaward charge for the replacement harness? The time consuming part doesn't bother me....but if it's cost prohibitive, I might just stick with the original harness since it's gotten the boat this far....;) Jim S/V Jimmy Dreams

Harness $

Jim Why not just call Seaward to find out the cost? I remember some years ago it was between $55 and $80. Roger: you wrote:"but not the harness from the plug to the plug by the control panel.." I simply beg to differ. Those connectors have been known to get water inside. In one case a guy's boat started all by itself when he wasn't there and burned completely. If you're going to do it, do it all. Just looking out for your best interests. Stu

Thanks for the help!

Thanks to all that replied, sorry for the sloppy question presentation... I copied the info (ref: eng harn)off the web and sent it to my maint guy. I'm considering replacing the instrmnt panel with a new model along with gauges. (Any advice?) As far as a three blade prop, Lake Erie can get big with short intervals and I would like to have a more bite when needed. Any suggestions as to model of prop? Pitch? Thanks again for the responses
